Polaroid Week begins at 6 a.m. tomorrow on Flickr. My eyes are already bleary from shooting, scanning, and prepping images. I like to work ahead so I can spend the majority of the week staying up way past my bedtime, browsing the jaw-droppingly fantastic photos that everyone else is sharing.

It was so much fun to discover your “Instant Heroes” … There were several artists that I didn’t know before. Thanks for the inspiration!

I always look forward to sharing some new photos during Polaroid Week, and this year is no exception. It’s a great opportunity to challenge myself and try new things.

Even more so, Polaroid Week has become a chance to discover new photographers (and friends) and absorb a much-needed jolt of inspiration. There’s so much spectacular work that’s shared during the five days of Flickr fun … It’s difficult to keep up, but well worth it to lose a bit of sleep!

Polaroid Week is just around the corner, and I’ve got instant film on the brain. Aside from the aesthetic advantages of instant film and the camaraderie of other instant shooters, I think many of us enjoy polaroids (intentional lowercase “p” to include modern instant photos made with Impossible and Fuji films) because the prints, as objects, inspire a sort of nostalgia that mere pixels cannot.
